• Academic tutoring and help with art, library, garden, and science projects

• Arranged for a presentation by a NASA astronaut to the second through fifth grade classes

• Co-sponsor of Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, with Texaco, and Greater Southwest Houston

• Provided school supplies, supplemental teaching materials, books, microscopes, manipulatives,

paper, tabs, splines, pencil sharpeners, computers, printers, computer disks, etc.,

• Provided $3,200 to school to be used toward the purchase of a high speed duplicating machine

• Sponsorship of Cenikor drug prevention program

• Purchase of T-shirts for participants in Cenikor’s after-school KOD (Knock Out Drugs) club

• Purchase of an accordion, guitarrón, and 2 violins for music program

• Reproduction services as needed

• Jacobs’ MIS department has worked with the school to evaluate their computer needs

• Design and purchased of TAAS banner, splitting the cost with HL&P

• Funding for T-shirts for 40 students for Navidad en el Barrio

• Donation of an artificial Christmas tree to the school

• Provided five large, laminated "Mission Statements"

• Teamed with Texaco to send 100 fifth graders to a performance of "Nutcracker"

• Teamed with Texaco to send 86 fifth graders to a performance of "Copellia" ballet

• Teamed with Texaco to provide two bicycles as awards for "Best Attendance for the Year"

• Helped fund three performances at the school by Actors Theater for Children of "The Emperor’s

New Clothes"

• Co-sponsored, with Texaco, a trip for three 5th grade classes (75 students) to Rice University to

a performance of "The Dream Maker’s Daughter" as performed by Express Theater; including a

tour of the university prior to the performance

• Funding for Benavidez Community Garden plant materials, pond, and deck

• Hosted Benavidez teachers, staff, and their families at Jacobs’ picnic and open house

 

 

EMPLOYEE DONATIONS

• Purchase of Jacobs / Benavidez "stock"; Over $21,000 raised through the sale of mock "stock" at

$5 per share, with all funds used to purchase supplemental teaching materials

• Donations of books, computers, printers, magazines, milk crates, toys, televisions,

musical instruments, furniture, school supplies, craft items, Christmas trees, etc. to the school

• Donations of food, clothing, furniture, toys, and cash to Benavidez families in need

 

• Thanksgiving and Christmas food drives, utilizing "Turkey Bucks" programs, plus donations

• Jacobs’ Employees Club collected and delivered non-perishable food items and $250 in Kroger gift

cards to school for families in need

• "Bubbles for Benavidez" program (Jacobs employees collect soaps, shampoos, toothbrushes, etc.

from hotels while on business trips, then sort and deliver to the school for distribution to students)

• Graduation cake for 100 fifth graders

• Employee and family member arranged for donation of nuts, pretzels, chips, and cookies from

US Air

• Funds raised through sponsorships of an employee’s Houston Marathon run
