culturally-diverse, technologically-rich society

*depends on highly visible, involved parents who share the school vision and work collaboratively with faculty & staff to accomplish this mission.
Thank you in advance for sharing our vision, supporting our mission, and contributing to the success of all students through your commitment!
Briarmeadow Charter School is committed to creating a community of learners focused on the success of every child. Every faculty and staff member has made a commitment to do whatever it takes to ensure that success. Frequent conversations are expected to take place between/among teachers, students, and parents in relations to four critical questions (see below). If we believe that all children can be successful, then teachers, parents and students must use these conversations as springboards to action.
- What we want children to know and be able to do?
- How we know if they have learned it?
- What we do when they have not learned it?
- What we do when they have?
Most magnet and gifted programs throughout Texas have “expectation contracts” for parents and students to sign prior to admission. Our “expectation contract” is in the form of this Parent Commitment, created by our Parent Advisory Group and implemented in 2002-03. In 2005-06, the Shared Decision-Making Committee (SDMC), made up of parents, teachers and business/community members, revisited this Parent Commitment. The SDMC strengthened the connection between commitment and enrollment. The Charter Contract, which is the framework for our operation, clearly states that chronic or excessive violations of the commitment will require a student to return to his/her home school at any time during the school year.

As a parent of the student(s) listed below, I understand this Parent Responsibility Commitment Form is required for enrollment each year. Briarmeadow Charter School and Briarmeadow Middle School are not “zoned” schools but a choice for families living in the Pilgrim, Briargrove, Piney Point, and Emerson attendance zones. According to the BCS charter, chronic non-compliance of any of the policies listed above will jeopardize continued enrollment of my child(ren) at any time during the school year.
You may fill in and print your Parent Commitment Form online. Then return it to campus.

School Tours
To assure that BCS is the right school for your child, school tours are required prior to registration! As a school of choice for parents in the Pilgrim, Piney Point, Briargrove and Emerson attendance zones, our school offers tours to future parents, interested community members and Houston organizations throughout the year. These bi-monthly tours last approximately 30-45 minutes. A brief tour of several classes is followed by a short question and answer session with the administration. While in a classroom, visitors get a chance to interact with the teachers and students to learn more about our unique academic environment.
For details phone 713 458 5500. We look forward to visiting with your family.
