ABC-Clio is a
Social Studies resource with three separate databases: World
Geography, World History and American History. |

The AP Photo
Archive contains over 500,000 photos from the library of the
Associated Press, covering dates from the mid-19th century to
date. The archive is searchable by date, topic, and location,
as well as, 71 concepts. |

BigChalk is a
periodical resource of articles suitable for schools from hundreds
of newspapers, magazines, books, pictures, maps, radio & TV
transcripts. |

CountryWatch has a
vast amount of up-to-date political, geographic, and economic
information on 192 countries accompanied by maps and data charts as
well as a currency converter. In addition, CountryWatch
provides the five latest news stories relating to each
country. |

EasyTech is a
web-based technology integration system that encourages computer lab
teachers and classroom teachers to adopt the use of technology in
the lab/classroom while providing essential technology skills for
K-5 students. Please contact Elizabeth Perrin for school

Grolier Online is a collection of seven
encyclopedias ranging from general purpose, elementary, high school,
Spanish, science, countries, states and continents, American states
and national parks. |

Nettrekker is a search engine that
organizes web sites around the K-12 curricula. All sites are
evaluated for academic integrity and age appropriateness before they
are considered. Resources are aligned with the state standards
with 18,000 lesson plans and learning exercises. |

A key component of the ASPIRE
model is using high-quality data sources, particularly value-added
analysis, to guide instructional decision-making. Value-added
analysis is a statistical method used to measure teachers’ and
schools’ impact on students’
academic progress rates from year to year.
Beginning this
year, HISD will use value-added analysis calculated via Dr. William
Sanders’ EVAAS® model to measure student progress at the school,
grade, teacher, and student levels. EVAAS® is recognized as the most
statistically rigorous model for calculating value-added analysis
nationwide. |

Wilson Web is an educational resource for
professional educators with professional journals and entire
articles on many subjects related to education. |
