MissionReasoning Mind’s mission is to provide a first-rate math education for every child. To achieve this, we offer an engaging online community that develops students’ math knowledge and thinking skills, and we help schools and parents bring this to their children. |
Why math is important. First-rate math and science skills are essential for success in the 21st century workforce. Unless we can come together to take our nation’s math education to the next level, the United States will quickly lose its leading role in industry and innovation. But the economy isn’t the only reason we should care about math: an excellent math education teaches children to think. Only by thinking logically and independently can a person make sense of the increasingly complex world around us and make good decisions as an individual and a citizen. The RM vision. Imagine a day when every child learns math in a way tailored to their specific needs. Imagine a day when teachers can give each child individual attention and support. Imagine a day when children love their math class so much, they do math problems at home instead of playing video games. Using the power of the Internet, Reasoning Mind has found a way to make this dream a reality, and schools are beginning to unite to bring it to their children. Thousands of children have already experienced this new way of learning math, and within ten years it could be the standard in our schools. The organization. Reasoning Mind is a non-profit organization founded in 2000. We are directed by the Board of Trustees and Advisers and supported by philanthropists and philanthropic foundations. The results have shown that RM dramatically increases students’ knowledge of math and improves their attitude towards the subject. Over 90% of students and teachers approve of RM. Partnering with schools. Reasoning Mind partners with schools, helping teachers use RM as a core math curriculum. A Reasoning Mind classroom is a hybrid of online and face-to-face instruction, where the teacher gives each child individual help and attention. Our partners include a wide range of schools, including inner-city schools, suburban schools, private schools, and magnet schools. We aim especially to help students from economically disadvantaged communities.
