Why did Bush Elementary turn into a tropical rainforest? Book-a-Palooza! The theme for our week- long reading festival was “Wild for Reading.” Every day, something exciting went on to get the students “Wild for Reading.” All students, faculty, and staff began every morning by reading from 8:00 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. On Monday, there was a Book-a-Palooza kick-off ceremony in the courtyard. All the students enjoyed a rainforest skit, made rain, and cheered for the love of reading. Tuesday, there was a “Go Wild” reading assembly. Wednesday, students were “caught” reading. Thursday was “Thoroughly Tropical Thursday.” Students and staff wore animal, tropical, or rainforest style clothes. Friday was our big “Wild for Reading” Book-a-Palooza parade and closing ceremony. Make sure you continue the spirit of Book-a-Palooza at home and always encourage your child to read! Thank you to the “Bush Design Team” for the fabulous work in transforming the hallway and library into a rainforest. The “Bush Design Team” is led by Dr. Buza and Mrs. Rodriguez and includes the following artistic mothers: Barbara Nassab, Janna Wright, Kim Truman, Kelly Cramer, Lenny Wong, Bodil Boest-Petersen, Amy Dukes, Debbie Noriega, and Nancy Zimmerer.
