| HISD is proud to partner again this year with the Pearson Foundation for Jumpstart’s Read for the Record Day on October 8, 2009. Millions of prekindergarten and kindergarten children across the country read Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar by an adult to model literacy and the importance of reading to young children. Ms. Rose, Mrs. Delaughter and Mrs. Tiet read this 2009 official campaign book to prekindergarten and kindergarten students. The Pearson Foundation has generously donated a special edition of The Very Hungry Caterpillar for each of our prekindergarten and kindergarten classrooms.
