MISSION STATEMENT:

The Nature Center is a school-wide, interdisciplinary, exploratorium designed to aid in teaching all students awareness and appreciation of our most precious resource, Earth. 


OBJECTIVES:

To increase knowledge and understanding of the natural environment and humankind’s relationship towards it. To develop awareness, appreciation, and a sense of responsibility towards the natural environment. To have a natural area on school grounds where students may study physical features, native flora and fauna, and their inter- and interrelationships. To provide a natural outdoor laboratory for the stimulation of students’ inquisitive scientific curiosity. To help promote hands-on, minds-on learning into the numerous components of Gulf Coast ecosystems. To create an outdoor laboratory easily accessible for all students of Bush Elementary. 


CURRICULUM:

Those objectives will be accomplished through the use of grade level specific activities. The pond community themes for every grade level are as follows:
