Title I is a federally funded program with emphasis on helping disadvantaged students meet the same high standards expected of all students. Title I funds enable funded schools to employ and train highly qualified teachers and instructional aides and purchase classroom instructional materials in math, reading, and technology. In addition, Title I funds provide students admission and transportation fees for field trips, as well as sponsor after school and Saturday tutorials. Title I also includes a parent component that provides training and enrichment activities for parents of students attending school. The Title I program is intended to ensure that all children can acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the 21st century.
