Meet the First Grade Team

Akila
Haulcy
Hello, my name is Akila Haulcy. I am a 1st grade teacher at
Felix Cook, Jr. Elementary. I graduated from LeTourneau University
with a Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies. As long as I can
remember, I have wanted to be a teacher and teaching 1st grade has
always been my passion. As a first year teacher, I look forward to
a productive and fun-filled year!
Vytara Cross
I am VyTara Cross
and I am a graduate of Wichita State
University in Wichita, KS. My goal is to open the minds and hearts
of my students to reading. My motto is: “You are more than you
think you are; you can be greater than your greatest dream…if
you want to be.”
Rodolfo Otero
My name is Rodolfo Otero and I am originally from Peru. I received
my teaching certificate through the Alternative Certification
Program of HISD and my graduate degree in Bilingual Education from
Houston Baptist University. This is my ninth year of teaching. I
enjoy traveling, listening to music, and watching comedy and action
movies.
Mary Taylor
My name is Mrs. Mary Taylor I am currently teaching First Grade. I
have
been teacher for many years and I really enjoy working with the
students. I am a proud graduate of Texas Southern
University where I earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary and Early
Childhood Education. Education is my passion and I
strive to get the best from my students.
Renato
Calhoun-Caleb
I am Renato Calhoun-Caleb, a first grade teacher at Felix Cook Jr.
Elementary. When I was in junior high, I had an
outstanding teacher and I knew right then I was going to school for
education. I attended Hinds Community College in Mississippi
majoring in Sign Language and from there I attended Prairie View A&M
University. At Prairie View, I earned a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education.
I am now pursuing a Masters in Early Childhood Education. I love
teaching first grade. it is such a joy to see children learning
to read. |
