Title I

The Ethel R. Coop Elementary has a school wide Title I program. Title I is a federally funded program with the intent to improve the academic achievement of students who are economically disadvantaged. The purpose of Title I, Part A is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and reach a minimum proficiency on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS).

Under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, Title I funds enable The Ethel R. Coop Elementary to employ and train highly qualified teachers and paraprofessionals; purchase instructional materials and classroom technology; sponsor parental involvement activities, and supplement different programs offered at Coop Elementary to increase the students' academic achievement. Please refer to our Coop monthly calendar in order to review all the programs and activities sponsored by Title I at our School.

If you have any further questions or comments, please contact the Title I Coordinator, Nora E. Rubalcava at 713-696-2630 during school hours, by e-mail at nrubalcava@houstonisd.org or please stop by the school main office for more information.
