Exploring Texas
Lending Nature a Helping Hand
Cornelius's Nature Center
Bird Habitat
Life Around the Pond
Bird Bath
The garden club members and their sponsor work hard to maintain our nature center area that provides a sanctuary for many plants and animals. A bird feeder was built to provide food for various species of birds. A Hummingbird feeder exists to attract them to the garden. In the pond, fish live and frogs lay their eggs, which later develop into tadpoles. Butterfly plants provide an excellent food source for caterpillars and allow butterflies a place to lay their eggs. The Cornelius Nature Center also has a Greenhouse where students work, and store equipment. An oak Gazebo is now under construction to be place in the nature center. The Gazebo will allow students to make and record observations about their surroundings comfortably. The Nature Center is a place where not only animals live, thrive, and plants and flowers grow, but it is a place where students and staff can also enjoy the serenity and beauty of the center.
