Exploring Texas
Veggies Veggies All around !!Veggies Veggies in the Ground!!

Mr.  Carlton Alex from the Texas Agricultural Extension Service is instructing the Cornelius's students how to  plant vegetables in our garden.

The students are transplanting collard greens and cabbage.

The students are cultivating the vegetables in the garden

The students planted other kinds of vegetables such beets, onions, lettuce, and parsley among others. After months of waiting, the vegetables in the garden are ready to be picked.  In the spring the students will plant tomatoes, squash, black-eyed peas, bell peppers, and corn. Planting a garden helps students  relate to how plants grow.  It is also one of the Texas Education Agency TEKS Objectives for grades Kindergarten through five. See the web site for additional information on planting and caring for a vegetable garden. To obtain this information visit the vegetable guide. The garden club members discovered also while investigating plant growth that vegetables are healthy and nutritious to eat. We eat many parts of the plant for our meals. For more information on  plant parts that we eat visit cool science for curious kids.
Let's take a look at the results
