Challenger Center has been a great attribute for our children. They were extensively involved throughout the entire five weeks at Starbase. The students graduate March 13, 2003, at 1:30P.M. With the collaboration of the students, Ms. Harrison, Ms. Sybille, and Mr. Gittens, the students with exit the Starbase program with a tribute to Challenger Center, all NASA personnel, and astronauts, for a graduation closing exercise.
March is not only the beginning of spring, but also Stanford 9. The Mock Stanford 9 tests shows that our fifth graders are extremely ready for the actual Stanford 9. Stanford 9 testing will begin March 5, 2003 and end March 12, 2003. March 14th will be no school for the students because the staff will have a professional development. In closing out the month of March the students will take a brief vacation, a well deserving break-----SPRING BREAK----March 17,2003 through March 21, 2003. When they return it will be time to get prepared for TAKS.
In April the fifth grade staff will begin preparation for TAKS, field day, graduation, fundraising activities, and closing for the end of the school year. The last Mock TAKS Test, Kamico Test, and Snapshot will also be given during the first week of April. April19th through the 22nd school will release for spring vacation. TAKS Math will be administered April 29 and TAKS Reading will follow April 30 2003.
May 1st will end TAKS Testing. It closes the yearly testing will the administration of TAKS Science. Once we are done with TAKS, and excitedly anticipating the GREAT results we will begin preparation for the school’s talent show, and the school’s yearly musical. TAKS results are due back the week of the 19th (May). May 26th the school will observe Memorial Day. On the 27th of May we will have the fifth grade promotion/retention meetings, to be held by the promotion/retention committee. May 28th we have the fifth grade graduation ceremony at 1:00P.M. The last day of school for the students will be May 29th, and we close the school year with our year fifth grade school picnic. The picnic will be held at Adair Park from 8:30A.M. - 2:00P.M. May 30th will be a professional development and summer school training session. |
