Here's what's happening in first grade: We are getting ready for the Spring! We will be exploring the world of insects. In Science we learn the different body parts of many insects as well as facts about their environment. We also have a field trip planned to the Butterfly Museum to further explore our insect friends. We are excited about preparing for Second Grade. We are setting goals to excel in Reading with a maximum of 60 words per minute. We will continue story mapping and building comprehension skills. In Language Arts we are learning parts of speech- Noun, Pronouns, Verbs, and Adjectives. In Math we are continuing with our 2 and 3 digit adding and subtraction as well as learning steps to carry over and borrowing. We are continuing to write and we will explore writing our own story books as well as publishing them. The First Graders are excited about moving on to the next level- Second Grade!
