Music

Although Cornelius is a Science Magnet School, principal Karen Jackson brags that it could just as well be a Fine Arts Magnet School.  The reason being that the entire school struts their stuff in May for an All School Musical Program.  This musical is complete with sets, costumes, actors, dancers, and singers.  They are prepared  and produced by the music staff, Ms. Sherron Fowlkes, past president of the Gulf Coast Orff Association, and Mrs. Margaret Stenborg, a former member of the Houston Grand Opera. All the teachers of the grade level get involved.  The Science and Physical Education teachers even help with the efforts to put on these spectacular shows.  This team effort creates lifelong memories for Cornelius Students.   

 

 

 

Our program enriches gifted and talented students through music. Tap dance classes are given before school three days a week where students in Kindergarten through Fifth grade participate. Advanced Recorder lessons are given before school two days a week, for interested fourth and fifth grade students. These two talented groups give performances at Christmas, the All-School Musical and school Talent Show as well as off campus performances. Piano classes are given after school three days a week.
