Crockett Elementary Publishes Two Books

This year, the young authors of Crockett  Elementary have published TWO books! In  Feb  ’07, the Third Grade students of Geetha   Thomas published ‘We are the Future. More   recently in May, the After School students of  Jack Thomas published an After School  Yearbook. Both these books contain several  articles beautifully written and colorfully  illustrated by each student individually.

Published by Nationwide Learning Inc., each of these books is hard bound and  contains about 50 pages. Several parents and well wishers attended the  respective book release events. The young authors read snippets of their  articles to the visitors and subsequently autographed copies to them. Their  writings from the heart impacted all the listeners, which had the effect of both  regaling people with laughter as well as moving them to tears! The young  authors celebrated by going on a full day Field trip to the Museum of Natural  Science.

"Writing development is also tied to reading   development. It is best developed through  substantial time devoted to writing and focused  instruction that builds from the writers’ efforts.” said  Principal Troutman. "I am happy that these children  were given this wonderful opportunity of developing  their writing talents by their teachers through these  unique projects.”
