International Festival

The multicultural thematic learning unit and the culminating International Festival have given our students an opportunity to grow in awareness and appreciation of ethnic traditions and cultural diversities around the world. The theme was integrated into the curriculum with students learning about customs, ways of life, foods, songs and dances of countries spread around the world.

All students, both at the Early Childhood Center (PK -& K) and at the Elementary School (K through Grade 5) had the wonderful opportunity of participating in this learning activity during the months of April & May. Their learning culminated in an International Festival with some entertaining music, song and dance performances by students. Dressed in colorful ethnic costumes, students regaled parents and community members with some scintillating performances.

Enthusiastic parental participation in parent-child multicultural learning activities, preparation and sharing of ethnic food items, participation by local consulate staff etc. were the highlights of this year’s event. There were as many as 25 countries represented, with each class learning about a different country,

The International Festival has become a regular event at Crockett. This year is the third consecutive annual program organized at Crockett.
