Marimba Ensemble Performs at Round Top, TX
Oct 20, 2007

Students in Crockett’s Fine Arts Program visited The International Festival Institute at Round Top, Texas on Saturday, October 20 to participate in 20th Anniversary celebration of Houston Young Artists Concert in response to the invitation from its Chairperson Shu Hao Pao. They first enjoyed watching the music performances of several young musicians with exceptional talents at the Institute’s famed Festival Hill Concert Hall. These musicians entertained the audience both vocally and with music instruments including piano, violin cello, erhu and the trombone.

All the participants, the audience and Crockett’s students were then treated to a BBQ diner at the nearby Edith Bates Old Chapel plaza. They were entertained there by Crockett’s Marimba ensemble (directed by Luis Cabrera) with some scintillating music. All the students (some of whom were accompanied by their supportive families) had a very interesting and unique exposure to quality performances at the Concert Hall and our own Marimba’s performance at the picturesque Chapel plaza.

Crockett’s young musicians are renowned for their music abilities. It will be recalled that they have recently released their second CD album, which was prompted by the tremendous response to its debut album released a couple of years ago.
