Welcome to Fifth Grade at Garcia Elementary!  We are very excited to have your students in our classes and have a year full of learning planned for our fifth graders. 

Student Goals and Expectations
The fifth grade team has very high expectations for our students.  We expect the students to develop critical thinking skills and become life long learners.  We want our students to accomplish academic success, develop skills and social responsibility. 

Attendance
School begins at 7:45 a.m. each day.

Tardy- A student arriving after 7:45 a.m. is considered tardy.  The student will be issued a green tardy slip at the front lobby office.

3 Tardies- A student tardy 3 times within a month will lose extracurricular activities (field trips, class incentives, etc.)

Uniforms

Uniforms must be worn Monday through Friday.  Students need navy bottoms and a white, red, or Garcia shirt.  Shirts must be long enough to be tucked in at all times and must have sleeves.

Rules
1-Respect yourself, others and your classroom.
2-Raise your hand and wait to be called upon.
3-Follow directions.
4-Always try your best.

Notes and calls to parents
Silent lunch
Not invited to field lessons and other extracurricular activities

Homeroom

Homework is extremely important!  Students will have homework every night to practice what they have learned.  Homework is expected to be completed and returned the next day.  If it is not completed, the student will receive a conduct cut and not be allowed to participate in recess.
