School Hours

7:45 to 3:15 pm  M., Tu, Th, F,
7:45 to 1:00 pm  W

School doors /cafeteria doors open at 7:15 am daily.   Supervision is not provided before 7:15 or after 3:30.  These procedures are designated for the safety our/ your students.

School Breakfast and Lunch

Students will receive a meal card with completed application by parent.  Breakfast hours are 7:15 to 7:45 am daily.  Lunch schedules will be sent home with your student.    Food or beverages from the cafeteria  may not be taken home per Federal Guidelines.

Student Code of Conduct

Students will adhere to Garcia’s school-wide rules:  Get quiet and listen to directions; Always be prepared; Take time to do quality work; Offer respect; Ready to learn and Safety at all times.  Gator pride!

Uniforms are required.  Red or uniform shirt, navy blue pants, jumpers, skirts, skorts, and closed shoes with socks.

School Dismissal

Students will not be allowed to cross any street without a parent, nor allowed to walk to a car waiting in a street lane.  This is a safety issue and we need your support.

Student Discipline

All Garcia students and staff will adhere to the expectations for appropriate and respectful behavior.  HISD’s Zero Tolerance is implemented to ensure the consideration of rights, feelings and property for all Garcia community members.

 School Calendar

HISD calendar on back of folder.  Garcia’s monthly calendars will be sent home with students.

Student Performance and Evaluation

Report cards will be sent home every nine weeks. 
The teacher will schedule parent conferences as needed.  Conferences will not be given during arrival to classrooms or during dismissals.   Parents are welcome to come to the office for any concerns or questions.

 Student Achievement
All Garcia students are expected to learn each and every day.  Daily attendance is required and arriving to school on time is expected.  Our teachers and entire staff pledge to give your student every opportunity to achieve academic excellence.  We ask for your complete support.

Parental Involvement
Parent meetings will be held monthly either with PTO or Title One.  We ask that all our parents support their student, their teachers and our school by attending a minimum of four meetings, programs or activities that your student will take part in during the school year.

We wish all of our Garcia students, parents, community, faculty and staff an extraordinary school year filled with new experiences, new learning, new memories and fun.

Las puertas de la escuela/cafetería se abren a las 7:15 de la mañana todos los días.  No habrá nadie supervisando a los niños antes de las 7:15 ni después de las 3:30.  Estas medidas se han hecho para la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes.

Desayuno y almuerzo de la escuela

Los estudiantes recibirán una tarjeta cuando usted haya llenado una aplicación para obtenerla.  El horario para el desayuno es de las 7:15 a las 7:45 de la mañana todos los días.  Después les enviaremos con sus hijos los horarios para el almuerzo.  Por orden de la ley federal, ni la comida ni las bebidas departe de la cafetería no podrán salir de la escuela.

Código de conducta para los alumnos

Los estudiantes seguirán las reglas implementadas en toda la escuela.  Estas son:  ponerse en silencio y escuchar las instrucciones;  siempre estar preparado; tomarse el tiempo para hacer un buen trabajo y de alta calidad; ser respetuoso; estar listo para aprender; y seguir las reglas de seguridad en todo momento.

Es obligatorio usar uniformes.  Se requiere la camiseta del uniforme o una de color rojo, pantalones de vestir, pantalones con tirantes, falda, o falda-short de color azul marino,  zapatos cerrados y calcetines o calcetas.

Salida

No se permite que esperen a sus hijos del otro lado de la calle, puesto que los estudiantes no podrán cruzar la calle si no van acompañados de un adulto, ni se les permitirá dirigirse hacia algún carro que esté estacionado enfrente de la escuela.  Esto es por la seguridad de sus hijos y por lo tanto les pedimos su apoyo en estas medidas.

Disciplina del estudiante

Todos los estudiantes de la escuela y el personal seguirán las reglas de lo que se considera como comportamiento apropiado y respetuoso.  La póliza del distrito de Cero Tolerancia ha sido implementada para asegurarse de que se tomarán en cuenta los derechos, sentimientos y propiedad de todos los miembros de la comunidad de esta escuela.

Calendario escolar

El calendario del distrito se encuentra en la parte de atrás del fólder.  Los calendarios mensuales de la escuela serán enviados a casa con los estudiantes.

Progreso y evaluación de los estudiantes

Se les enviarán las boletas de calificaciones cada nueve semanas.  El maestro/a determinará un horario convenible para tener una conferencia con usted en caso de ser necesario.  No se podrá tener juntas ni conferencias con el maestro/a durante la hora de llegada de los estudiantes al salón, ni a la hora de salida.  Si necesita hablar con alguien a estas horas, se les invita a que vengan a la oficina y les ayudaremos con sus preguntas o dudas.

Provecho escolar de los alumnos

Se espera que todos los alumnos aprendan todos los días.  Para esto, se requiere asistencia perfecta y que lleguen a tiempo.  Nuestros maestros y personal de la escuela se comprometen a ofrecer a los estudiantes toda oportunidad para que sobresalgan y alcancen la excelencia escolar.  Les pedimos su cooperación y apoyo.

Para los padres

Tendremos juntas que se llevarán a cabo una vez al mes y serán dadas por la asociación de padres y maestros (PTO), o por la oficina de ayuda escolar (Title One).  Les pedimos a todos los padres de familia que apoyen a sus hijos, a los maestros y a nuestra escuela al hacerse presente en por lo menos cautro juntas, programas o actividades de la escuela en las cuales sus hijos participen durante el año escolar. 

Les deseamos a nuestros estudiantes, padres, comunidad, maestros y personal un año extraordinario lleno de nuevas experiencias, nuevo aprendizaje, nuevos recuerdos y diversión.
