GRISSOM CADETS CELEBRATE BEING DRUG FREE DURING RED RIBBON WEEK 2008! From October 23rd to October 31st, V.I.G. Cadets and Commanders showed their DRUG FREE pride. We observed Red Day, took our hats off to drugs, turned our backs to drugs, slipped away from drugs, banned drugs, and said boo to drugs. Take a look at the gallery for great pictures! VIRGIL I. GRISSOM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GETS SCIENTIFIC! THERE WAS FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY! V.I.G. does it again! Family Math Science and Technology Night was a great success! Cadets were able to bring the whole family to school and enjoy a night of learning mathematical strategies in a fun , no-pressure environment that can be applied later in class as well as in test-taking situations. Students and their parents and sibling used measuring strategies and learned the properties of matter while making ice cream, participated in a sink-and-float demonstration, and utilized technology stations. This event was a collaborative effort supported by The Children's Museum of Houston. VIEW THE GALLERY
CADETS FROM THE TOP-NOTCH THIRD GRADE CLASSES CELEBRATE A READING LESSON BY CONSTRUCTING TREE HOUSES WITH THEIR OWN FLAIR. After reading The Tree House by Lois Lowry, illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman, the third grade cadets embarked on a bit of a creative journey and constructed miniature tree houses. These tree houses were fixed with flair and positively pouring with personality! VIEW THE GALLERY
IT'S A BOOK FAIR BLIZZARD: V.I.G. CADETS ARE CHILLING OUT WITH GREAT READING MATERIAL! V.I.G. Librarian, Chunci Shinholster-Baker, sponsored a wonderful book fair. The children "shopped 'til they dropped". It is a wonderful feeling when you see children excited about reading, eager to get a book of their own. VIEW THE GALLERY
