Hats off to Holden Students.

The sixth grade competed in the Northwest District History Fair--Junior Division. Both groups
received honorable mention. They include the following:

America Balderas, Jeffrey Chavez, Norma Penate and Xevier Turrubiartes for completing the
project: Exploring the Heart, Encounters in Open Heart Surgery.

Jonathan Symmank and Joseph Escobar for completing the project: Encounters with Nature,
The Creation of FEMA.

February 17th: Northwest Area Spelling Bee.
February 24th: TAKS Writing test for 4th grade.
March 3rd: Reading TAKS.
March 1-11: SAT 10 testing.

Holden's Spelling Bee Winners.

Tied for 3rd place--Nina Garcia (Ms. White; 4th grade), Bianca Jackson (Mrs. Hart; 6th grade), Samuel Garcia (Mrs. Drymalla; 2nd grade)

Tied for 2nd place--Adriana Moreno (Mrs. Hart; 6th grade), and Paul Bindiola (Ms. White; 5th grade)

1st place winner--Jesse Alvarado (4th grade) Ms. Ogboenyiya

The first and second place winners will go on to compete in the Northwest District spelling bee on February 19 at Wainwright Elementary.

Polaroid camera will co-sponsor "Read to Achieve" and will give a grand prize at the end of the year
to the student who met their Accelerated Reader goal during the year.
