Band
City Jazz Kidz is a performing Jazz Ensemble of Elementary Students from The Davis Feeder System. The students are in grades 3 through 5.
City Jazz Kidz is directed by Mark Holter. Our goal is provide these students with a well-rounded musical education at a young age. We teach the kids how to improvise by teaching them classic jazz literature. The songs we play have evolved throughout jazz history as standard repertoire. We use warmups that include basic styles, jazz articulation, chord-scale relationship and jazz-vocabulary building exercises. We encourage the kids to memorize these songs.
