Mission Statement    

The mission of Katherine Smith School is to provide a learning environment which promotes academic excellence, develops  each student's potential, produces responsible citizens, enhances self-worth, fosters physical and emotional well-being for our  students to make sound decisions in our multicultural society.

Overview of School

K. Smith offers a school-wide Title I program which funds a full-time social worker and technology teacher. G/T Neighborhood Program classes with G/T certified teachers are at each grade level for our Gifted and Talented students. Other programs offered include, but are not limited to, A Balanced Approach to Reading, Academics 2000 Kindergarten Waterford Reading Program, and STAR Reading and Math. The school also participates in District History Fair, Science Fair, Number Sense contests, Bilingual/English spelling bees, art contests, and other district competitions.  The school also has the 21st Century After-School Program. The program is free to students and provides enrichment activities including Homework help, Tutorials, Arts & Crafts, Karate, Piano, and Science.

Visitors on Campus

All visitors must check in at the front office  before going to a classroom.  The office staff  will issue you a badge identifying you as an authorized visitor.  Teachers will welcome your visits during their conference periods.  Please schedule appointments for conferences ahead of time if possible.

Student Uniforms

School uniforms are required for all students.  Our school uniform is as follows:

Navy or Khaki - pants, skirts, jumpers, skorts (knee length)
   shorts (knee length), plain jeans are allowed but not preferred

Shirts - Red, Navy or White polo style with collar OR
              Katherine Smith spirit T-shirt
