Information School, Students, and Community John F. Kennedy Elementary is a part of the Washington Feeder Pattern and has a student population of 570 students. Our school is composed of four families which combine energies to support the entire school community. The Male Initiative family is a vertical family of grades kindergarten through sixth. Males remain in this family throughout their stay at Kennedy. Teachers in this family form big brother - little brother teams to promote social skills, family values, and academics through the use of interdisciplinary units. A second family and parallel in philosophy is the Female PREP (Preparing and Reestablishing Educational Promises) family. This family is composed of all girls, which model the same program as the Male Initiative. A third family is the STARS This family is unique in that students are primarily linked by their gift of language and traditional classes. The STARS family has all mixed gender classes. Our fourth family, the STRIPES family, is the support family which includes the Communities In Schools program, all ancillary staff, the custodial staff, office staff, and the cafeteria staff. The STRIPES family provides support academically and environmentally to all at Kennedy Elementary. Kennedy Elementary offers several academic programs which include SIGHTS, Bilingual Education, ESL, Speech, Life Skills and Generic Education.
