HISPANIC HERITAGE PROGRAM IS A HIT WITH KOLTER STUDENTS
The cafeteria at Kolter Elementary School was the site of a fiesta on Friday, September 22nd, as all students gathered for the annual Hispanic Heritage program. The program began with an introduction by Ms. Kearney, the magnet coordinator, and Pedro, her feathered friend. Then, 5th grade Spanish students recited facts about Hispanic countries in both Spanish and English.
Three members of the Johnston Middle School pianist group performed "Argentina Tango" and "Celebration Overture", while the Johnston Middle School Mariachi band warmed up. For the finale, the Mariachi band performed a rousing set that included; "La Negra", "La Madrugada" and "Mariachi Loco". Kolter students and staff loved the band so much, that Ms. Kearney may start a Mariachi band at Kolter next year!
Kolter is an HISD "Exemplary" magnet school for French, Japanese, Chinese and Spanish foreign languages
