About Lovett
Located in the neighborhoods of Meyerland and Bellaire, E. O. Lovett Elementary School is a Magnet school for fine arts and extended instructional day.  We draw on neighborhoods throughout Houston for our enrollment, yet we create a collective sense of pride and unity in the school.  The Magnet programs offer children the chance to develop to their fullest potential, and teachers, parents, and other community members enthusiastically support these programs.

The Lovett family strives to create a favorable learning and working environment for everyone.  We invite all segments of the school's community to participate in a cooperative, democratic decision-making process.  The school itself is a clean, safe, cheerful facility, which adds to the positive climate.  In addition, the school fosters an attitude of open communication with everyone involved.

The school is truly a partnership of students, parents, community, administration, and faculty all working together to create a safe place in which students can broaden their educational horizons.  This successful partnership is the key to Lovett's success.

Lovett's Vision Statement

The entire staff at Lovett Elementary is working towards developing our campus as a Professional Learning Community (PLC).  The development of a PLC is a process. Important questions are asked of the staff such as:
What is our purpose?
What collective commitments must we make to move our school in
the direction we want to move?
How will we assess if we are making progress?
In answering these questions, we will develop our campus mission, vision, values, and goals.

Mission:  The mission of Lovett Elementary is as follows:

It is the mission of our school to provide an educational program that offers each child the opportunity to develop his/her abilities within a caring, supportive and cooperative environment. This development must be concerned with the total child so that he/she can become a responsible, productive member of the community. Inherent in the mission is the belief that all students can learn and that school makes a difference.

Vision:  The vision statement for Lovett Elementary is as follows:

As a school community we will work together to provide opportunities that will meet the individual needs of all students. As a school community, we will help children grow and learn in an environment that fosters a positive and enthusiastic learning experience. This vision will be implemented by:

  • Working together towards a common purpose with well defined goals
  • Developing ongoing, meaningful collaborative teams
  • Committing to high student achievement – exemplary status
  • Using the best practices towards continuous improvement
  • Partnering with each student to reach his/her maximum potential and developing a plan to assist those in need of help

Values:  The values for Lovett Elementary as a professional learning community are to make the following collective commitments to achieve the vision of our school:

  • We will reach out to the community to build quality relationships that enhance student learning through shared values and mutual goals
  • We will establish a productive working relationship with parents to help students be successful
  • We will meet weekly as a grade level to share best practices and monitor individual student progress
  • We will engage in meaningful professional development to enhance professional skills
  • We will continue small group instructional programs, within the classroom, which will provide additional learning time for students
  • We will provide additional instruction, in small group settings, beyond the school day as needed
  • We will differentiate instruction to promote success for all students
  • We will continuously evaluate student data in our collaborative teams, and target specific instructional areas

COMPACT FOR LEARNING
The purpose of the parent-school compact is to communicate a common

reason for the absence.

the bus at dismissal that day.
