School Hours
Kindergarten - Fifth Grade
8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
(First Bell) 7:55 a.m.
(Second Bell) 8:00 a.m.
(Tardy Bell) 8:05 a.m.
(Dismissal Bell) 3:00 p.m.
Before and After School Procedures
Before: In the morning, students and parents are to remain outside. Each
grade level will be assigned a waiting area. Students who want to eat breakfast
may report to the cafeteria. Students and/or parents are not allowed down the
hallways to stand by their classrooms. On inclement weather days, students will
wait in the cafeteria for school to begin.
Adult supervision is provided in the cafeteria beginning at 7:30 a.m. Safety
Patrols are stationed on the playground before school beginning at 7:45 a.m.
for supervision. Students are to obey Safety Patrols. Lovett Elementary is not
responsible for students before these times.
All gates to the school will be locked at 8:15 a.m. and remain locked throughout
the day.
After: At 3:00 p.m., students enrolled in Extended Day classes are to go straight
to their assigned room. HISD and Day Care bus riders will be assisted by an Aide
in loading the buses. Students leaving the campus at 3:00 p.m. are to proceed
home as soon as possible. Adults are to remain OUTSIDE the building when
waiting for students to be dismissed at the end of the day. Students not picked up
by 3:15 p.m. will remain in the school offi ce. Parents will be called at this time.
Parents will need to enter the school offi ce to check their children out of school
in the proper manner. Music students staying for practice and not picked up in a
timely manner will follow the same procedures.
Children in the music programs are to be picked up at their designated dismissal
time .
The back gate (Birdwood) will be opened at 2:45 p.m. for parents picking up
their child(ren). The gates will be locked again at 3:15 p.m. and remained locked
until the following morning.
Please make arrangements with your child as to where to meet his/her ride—
front (Jason) or back (Birdwood). Students will NOT be allowed to use the phone
for this reason.
