Shared Decision Making Committee - SDMC

Our Shared Decision Making Model is based on the premise that decisions that affect the school should be made as close to the school as possible, and that members of the school community who are affected by those decisions should have input into the decision-making process.  The SDMC shall be involved in decisions in the areas of planning, budgeting, curriculum, staffing patterns, staff development and school organization.

Organizational Structure
The purpose of this committee is to set goals and objectives related to student achievement. Meetings are held throughout the year and minutes are available to all parents and interested community members. An information notebook containing agendas, minutes, and various committee reports is maintained in the main office.

All SDMC meetings will be open.  Lovett staff, parents and community are welcome to attend.  However, they will have no discussion or voting privileges during the meeting.  Committee members, parents, teachers, and other interested individuals may bring their suggestions or concerns to the SDMC by submitting a Shared Decision Making Process Form (yellow form).  These forms are available in the main office.  Forms must be submitted to the main office at least 10 days prior to the scheduled SDMC meeting.  The committee will refer the issues to the appropriate sub-committee which will then research and investigate the issue and report back to the SDMC in writing for decision/implementation.

Membership
The Shared Decision-Making Committee is an advisory group composed of: six
classroom teachers; three other professional staff members; one non-professional
staff member; two parents; two community members; one business leader chosen
by the principal; and the principal.
All members are elected for a two year term.
