The Lovett Elementary Student Council offers students from grades 2-5 the opportunity to actively participate in school-wide initiatives, lend their hands to community causes, and see democracy in action.  While representing Lovett, these student leaders will gain responsibility, increase pride in their school, and gain an overall awareness of needs at a local level and develop ways to help.  Representatives along with school officers will be held to high academic and citizenship levels.  Elections for student council are held at the beginning of each school year.  Fifth graders have the opportunity to run for an officer’s position.  The council meets the third Wednesday of each month in the Fit Pit from 3:00-3:45.  The faculty advisors for the Student Council are:  Mrs. Phillips, Mrs. Nathan, Mrs. Louis, Mrs. Thomas, and Mrs. Grant.

NewspaperLovett Newspaper Club
Do you ever wonder how the Lovett newspaper, The News Flash, is put together?  It comes together by the hard work of the fourth and fifth grade students who belong to the Newspaper Club and its sponsor, Dr. Marilyn Horne.  The News Flash staff puts their heads together to think of different ideas for articles.  After some research, the staff writes the articles they think Lovett Students would enjoy reading.  Fourth and Fifth graders are eligible for the Newspaper Club.  It meets each Tuesday after school from 3:15 to 5:00 in the computer lab. Students who participate must be able to attend regularly and have their teacher recommend them.  If you enjoy reading and writing, then the Newspaper Club is for you!
