All students (K-5) take part in the music program under the guidance of full-time instructors. Brass, percussion, woodwind, string, guitar, chorus, and keyboard are among the many options from which students in grades 3-5 may choose. General music and Suzuki violin are offered to grades K-2. No more than 12 students gather in soundproof rooms and demonstrate their talent on instruments provided by the Magnet program. Students develop poise and self-confidence by performing in mini0concerts throughout the year. |
Science
Interdisciplinary science units featuring a variety of hands-on activities, experiments, and projects enable students to develop scientific inquiry and critical thinking skills. Two full-time specialists work collaboratively with teachers to lead students through physical and biological sciences in well equipped science labs. Through the use of weather instruments, activities in campus arboretums, and caring for plants and animals, science becomes an integral part of our students' lives. The Museum of Health and Medical Science, The Museum of Natural Science, and Rice University also participate with school activities. |
