Primary Years Programme
an inquiry-based approach to learning, focusing on the growth of the developing child, addressing the social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic progress.

The aim of all IB programs is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.

IB learners strive to be an inquirer, thinker, communicator and risk taker who is knowledgeable, principled, caring, open-minded, well-balanced and reflective.

The teachers have created a Program of Inquiry of planners to help the students succeed here at Twain. The Program of Inquiry has been posted to the school's website to help provide you with an idea of what the students will be working on throughout the school year.

In the PYP a balance is sought between acquisition of essential knowledge and skills, development of conceptual understanding, demonstration of positive attitudes, and taking of responsible action. The five essential elements of the curriculum are:

The IB Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
