Project GRAD: Combined effort involving teachers, administrators, parents, students, community leaders, and businesses to improve inner-city education. Components are (1) Success for All, a reading program that emphasizes good reading skills, learning in pre-kindergarten and carried throughout the students education. (2) Consistency Management, teaches students responsibility & self-discipline. (3) Communities in School, a social service professional helps with students concerns & keeping students from dropping out of school. (5) Scholarships, students who complete the program will receive money for college.
Co-nect: The Co-nect design is a comprehensive school reform model that focuses in improving student achievement through project-based learning, technology integration, staff development & online resources.
Hu-link: Houston Urban Learning Initiatives in a Networked Community is a program whose goal is to improve mathematics, science and technology in our public schools.
Neighborhood Gifted & Talented: A program for qualified gifted and talented students enhancing their curriculum through project based learning.
Technology for Young Learners: A federal program for second grade integrated the use of computers with mathematics & reading.
Accelerated Reader:A reading program designed to get the students reading by offering an incentive programs based on a point system integrated the use of computers.
Class Size Reduction: A program that provides smaller classes for reading, math, language arts in grades 1 through 3.
HISD Algebra Initiative: A program that offers staff development focusing on a new and inventive teaching approach and ideas in mathematics.
