Parker Elementary School SDMC Meeting Minutes Parker Elementary School SDMC Meeting Minutes October 14, 2008
Member Present: Cappy Selig, Charlotte Gifford-Weaver, Joy Stalnaker, Donna Fraley, Donna Brown, Susan Stanton, Laurel Kelly, Barbara Haverkamp, Marie LaBelle, Delayne McIlveen, Susan Shafer
Reviewed SIP goals and objectives.
“Tuning In” flyer: A mailed flyer about Parker will go out later this month introducing the school to our community.
School plan for missed instructional time: The handout documented the many ways Parker teachers will focus on students in need of additional instruction to make up for days lost due to the hurricane.
Night-time PTO meeting: A general meeting will be held Thursday, October 16 at 7:00 pm.
Parker’s 50th birthday and FunFest October 25: Flyers show the times and activities for the day. Past and present faculty and administrators will be honored. Tours of the school and past and present pictures of Parker will be shared.
Election Day: Parker is a voting site on Tuesday, November 4. Students will eat in their classrooms that day.
Book Fair: It is scheduled for November 10-14 with an opportunity for Grandparents to visit. Nov. 13th will be POPS night and family night with meal served.
Magnet Week: The date has been rescheduled due to hurricane Ike. The new date is December 8-12 with Parker tours every day that week.
Early dismissal day: Committee discussion did not favor early dismissals; children often do not get picked up, parents who work are in a bind, and parents who do not work resent being asked to care for the children of working parents.
Next SDMC meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18, 2008.
