CALLING ALL PARENTS!!

Consider joining and participating in some or all of the PTO events during the school year.  These events are fun, and you will meet other parents here at school.  The PTO was created with the mission of:

● Supporting and enhancing the educational experience at S.C. Red Elementary by fund-raising and organizing school and family activities, and

● Strengthening the relationship between home and school by promoting and encouraging communications and good relationships among parents, teachers, the administration, and the community.

Cookbook  - The Red PTO is composing  a cookbook  to earn money for a track for the Red Elementary School track.  We will be accepting recipes from family, students, parents, and faculty until February 29, 2008.  Please feel free to turn your recipes in to your child's teacher or into the front office.  There are recipe forms in the office and in the lobby of the school.  Mother's Day is coming so get your recipes in and purchase a cookbook for a love one.  The cost of the book will be $10.00. 

Membership dues - $10 per family helps the PTO buy books for Mrs. Smith to hand out as students reach reading milestones.  This money also allows the PTO to give each teacher money for supplies.  Thank you to those who have made their contribution!!  We are still collecting the dues through this month.  The top classes with the most participation will have a party to celebrate.

Volunteers still needed:  2 hours of your time.  Can you commit to just 2 hours for the entire year?  There are all kinds of ways to help the school.  If you can commit to 2 hours, please let us know.  Some tasks can be done in the evening from your home while others may be more involved. 

We have a number of openings in the PTO homeroom parent and fund-raising committees that would be a great way for you to share in your child's education.  For more information on what these committee members do or to commit to 2 hours of your time for the year, email Debbi Blythe at debbi_blythe313@yahoo.com.  **Enter "RED Elementary" in the subject line to avoid being labeled "spam."

FUNd-raising - We are saving up to put in a new Walking/Jogging track.  This is a large $$ goal and we will be trying several ways to raise the funds.  Any help you can provide is appreciated!  Ideas are welcome, too.  Join the FUNd-raising committee.  

Take the night off from cooking - Every second Thursday of each month is Red night at Cici's Pizza.  Cici's generously donates a portion of that night's Red family sales to the Red PTO.  September brought in $150!  Bring friends and family and have them mention Red Elementary.

School Store - Over the summer, the Red PTO organized and re-opened the School Store.  The kids love it!  Stop by and check it out.  We are also selling Red School Store Bucks!  Give them to your child(ren) as rewards or as a "thank you."  The store is open every morning from 7:20 AM till 7:45 AM

GET IN THE LOOP

Get in the Loop - Want to stay "in the know" about goings-on at Red Elementary?  Join the Red PTO yahoo group. This is an email group hosted by the Red PTO where parents can go to get information about Red.  Anyone with a child at Red is invited to join - you will receive messages about events, activities and other items of interest to the Red community.  To join, simply send an email (from the address you want to receive messages) to redpto-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.  This email is monitored by a moderator and will be used for purposes of improving Red Elementary.
