A Word From the Principal -

June 19, 2008

Dear Students, Parents, Community Members, and Friends,

I am truly thrilled and honored to be the new principal at Samuel Clark Red Elementary School Math, Science, and Technology Magnet Program!

My main goal as principal is to lead and facilitate significant student outcomes and achievement, while encouraging a positive school culture. As a previous classroom teacher, counselor, assistant principal, and regional parent assistance manager, I am committed to using my expertise to positively impact all aspects of our school community.

Education is a noble profession, which requires effective leadership to ensure the success of our students for the future. I plan to serve as a positive role model and servant leader who is ready to be of service.

Over the summer, we will reflect on the successes from the recent school year, while concentrating on continued advancement by evaluating what we have, determining what we can do to improve, and identifying what we need to make those improvements. We realize there is always room for improvement and new ways to do a good job even better.

As we go into a new school year know that we have a common goal—to do what is best for all students—and we will continue to look for ways to achieve that goal. I look forward to your input and meeting with all of you in the near future.

I am truly optimistic about the new possibilities for the upcoming year! Enjoy your summer as we prepare to make 2008-2009 our best school year yet!

Summer School Dates: June 5 – July 2

Students who do not meet promotion standards in May are required to attend all days to be considered for promotion to the next grade at the end of summer school.

All new students will need the following:

Proof of Birth – birth certificate, hospital certificate, baptismal certificate, or a passport will be accepted.

Social Security Card – need original card; we will make copies.

Driver’s License (of adult filling out enrollment paperwork)

Immunization Record – Please make sure your child has all the required immunizations.

Proof of Residency: Lease agreement or current electricity, water or gas bill ONLY. Telephone bills will not be accepted as proof of residency.

Last Report Card (if enrolling for 1^st – 5^th)

Eligibility for Pre-K:

Child must be 4 years old on or before September 1^st (All students)
Specific income guidelines must be met; or
The child must speak another language. (Students will be tested for language eligibility.) If you do not qualify for eligible Pre-K program we have a tuition-based pre-k program that accepts students who will be 4 on or before September 1. Three year olds will be placed on a wait list. Tuition rate will be set by TEA this summer.
