Learner Profile Videos 08-09: Knowledgeable Balanced Inquirers Kindergarten Living Things PhotoStory Elders Songwriting Project "Ms. Price put us into groups and told us what elder we would be interviewing. We interviewed Mrs. Hall. We did some very good notes and decided that our chorus was going to be about traveling and making friends. Then we used each verse as a part of her life. At first, songwriting felt super hard. Bus as we got more verses down, it started to get easier." - Sabrina "The most fun was when we were writing the songs. When you're writing a song you have to know all your facts and have them at your fingertips. I know for a fact that all the elders liked their song/ story of a life time." - Maya “It was fun writing songs for the elders but it was pretty hard." - Ernie "It was really enjoyable when you got on the sage and sang for the people. It really made me happy and I feel like it made my day too. I feel so comfortable around them. I t makes me feel good to sing for them. It really makes my heart joyful!" - Claire "My biggest lesson I learned was writing songs is hard and it can also be one of the best gifts in the person's life. The most surprising thing that happened was that when I got on stage to sing the song ZI was not as scared as before." - Ally "The most challenging part of the song-writing project was finding the heart of the song: the chorus. Even finding the right tone or the melody was hard. We got many ideas from each other and scribbled out the parts that did not fit the whole idea." -Hee Soo You need Quicktime to play these songs.
