Curriculum 1st Nine Weeks

  • Kindergarten TEKS and I.B. program
  • Language Arts: Introducing Literacy Workstations, Writing skills (top to bottom and left to right progression), Read alouds (books that reinforce the IB planner)
  • Math: measure by comparing lengths, identify and describe shapes, counting objects to 10 (one to one), count down from 10, sort objects by attributes, explore volume, reading graphs, creating and extending patterns.
  • Social Studies:   Pledge of Allegiance, Texas and US symbols
  • Science:  learning to use tools to gather information during simple investigations, weather, seasons, temperature
  • Sight Words to work on:  look, said, come, here, a, I, in, is, it, me, the, up, we, to, see, at, have, like
  • Cafeteria, hallway, restroom, classroom and specialist essential agreements

Just a note…

  • Please email or write a note to the teacher explaining why your child is absent. Absences are excused for illness, death in the family, and inclement weather. 
  • Wednesdays are early dismissal days (12:45 a.m.).
  • Please provide a note for your child’s teacher if transportation changes occur.
  • Please check your child’s backpack nightly for their Green Communication folder.  Please read and fill out any important documents and return the folder the following day. 
  • Please be sure you provide a change of clothes for your child.  Label all clothing, lunch kits, back packs, etc.
  • If you wish to send birthdays treat (toy or food) please send them individually packaged ready for your child to hand out at the door during dismissal.  Treats do not need to be labeled with names.

  • To add money to your child’s lunch card or to check the balance, please visit this website: www.parentsonline.net
  • If you would like to read to your child in the hallway please be sure your background check is complete.  Come any morning from 7:45-8:00, sign in at the front office and wait in the hallway.   There is no need to notify the teacher. 

Homework

  • Please read with your child for 10 minutes a night.
  • Practice letters (capital and lowercase) and sounds
  • Read your library book and then talk about the: characters, setting, problem, and solution.

Snack
Please send one small healthy snack with your child excluding Wednesdays due to early dismissal.  Please be sure your child understands that the snack is for snack time so they do not eat it during lunch time.
