Kindergarten Basics
The following is a summation of what is to be taught in this grade.
 
Math

- count 1-100

- recognize 1-20

- addition 1-10

- subtraction 1-5

- shapes

- patterns

English/ Language Arts

- know alphabet
  (letters and sounds)

- write first and last name

- recognize parts of a book
  (author, title, illustrator, ..)

- listening comprehension
  (recounting the story they heard)

- basic sight words

- express ideas orally
  (characters, setting, what happened)

- sequence events
  (recalling what order things occurred)
Science

- sort organisms into groups
  (farm vs. wild animals, insects)

- weather
  (sunny, rainy, windy, seasons)

- sort living and non-living things

- earth properties
  (what is the sun, earth, oceans, night)

- plants
  (start as a seed and grows, blooms)

- characteristics of objects
  (solid, liquids, shapes, colors, hard)
Social Studies

- learn rules and purpose of rules

- importance of celebrations/ customs



Bilingual

- read two syllable words
