Network
Printer Setup Instructions |
FOR WINDOWS XP:
- Find a suitable network printer in a
convenient location
- Ask the technology teacher for the
network-name of that printer
- From the "start" menu, choose Printers and
faxes
- From the left column choose Add new
printer
- Then:
- Then choose:

In the "Name" box, type: \\shearn-bdc\ at this point, a list
will appear--there are over 50 printers, you must choose (and
highlight) the correct network-printer name.
- Then
- It will ask if you'd like to make it your
default printer--this will be your call, say yes or no.
- Then
You're done!
FOR WINDOWS 98:

START
BUTTON--SETTINGS--PRINTERS (if you can't follow this, stop now
and get help)

Double-click the ADD PRINTER
icon--followed by a "NEXT" button

Choose radio button: NETWORK
PRINTER

In the line "Network Path or
Queue Name" type: \\shearn-bdc\XXXXXXX. If you know the
name, type it in place of the Xs above. Otherwise, can "browse" to
find the correct printer--if you know the name of the printer. To
browse: Entire Network > West > Shearn-BDC > "highlight" the
name of your printer and choose Next

Say NO to MS-DOS

Click OK OR Next

With this dialog box you can type
a "user friendly" name for your purposes--to remind you of what
printer it is

Click OK, then OK,
then Next

It will ask you to name the
printer--for your purposes (as a reminder of which printer it is),
type a name--perhaps the location, like "Main office".

It will ask if you want to print
a Test page--it's up to you.

It will ask if you want to make
this printer the Default Printer--that is up to you.

Click Finish
