- Amelia Earhart was born in
Atchison, Kansas. At the time, She lived with Her mother Amy, her Father
Edwin ,and her little sister Marial.

- At age 11 Amelia saw her very
first plane at the Iowa state fair. This is what really inspired her to
be a pilot.

- On July 24, 1922 Amelia was 25
and her birthday gift was a plane. She had gotten the money from her
Mom, and sister. The plane’s name was the Yellow Canary. She had taken
lessons from Neta Snook at flight school, and soon would get her license.

- After Amelia got her license
(issued by the Federation Aeronautics) She was able to fly.
- In 1926 Amelia and her Yellow
Canary set the Women's Altitude record of 14,000 feet.

- Amelia and her co-pilot Fred
Noonan left Miami, Florida June
1, 1937 bound for California by traveling around the world. Radio
contact was last heard July 2, 1937. She was about 35 to 100 miles from
Howland Island. She was never heard from again. President Roosevelt
spent 4 million searching for her.
- Amelia nor the plane was ever
found.
