- Houdini was born in Budapest, Hungary. His father’s name was Mayer
Samuel Weiss and his mother’s name was Cecilia Steiner Weiss.
- His family was very poor. He was one of six children to survive.

- Houdini was working as a photographers assistant who was an amateur
magician. He taught Houdini and his brother how to make a coin disappear.
- Houdini bought cheap items like silk and decks of cards.

- Houdini put on good shows. He escaped from all kinds of hand cuffs and
manacles. He was even thrown into lakes and rivers.
- Houdini made movies. He was an actor and a director. Two of his movies
were called “Terror Island “and “Houdini.”
- Houdini liked spiritualism. He tried to expose frauds.

- Houdini came up with some great tricks like the Chinese Water Torcher
Cell, The Milk Can Escape, and Metamorphosis.
- One time a person challenged Houdini to beat his time in a coffin,
filled with sand, and submerged in water. Houdini accepted his challenge
and beat his time by half an hour.

- Houdini died on October 31, 1926 at 1:26 P.M . Houdini died from
appendicitis.
- Almost 2,000 people packed near the Elks Club near Times Square on
November 4.
- Houdini was buried by his family as ordered.
