- Laura was born into a big family in Pepin, Wisconsin on February 7th,1876.
- She had 3 sisters named Mary, Carrie, and Grace.

- Her husband was Almanzo Mannie Wilder but she called him Manly.
- he Smoved to De Smet to teach.
- She became a teacher at Wilkins Elementary in the year of 1885.

- She had a son on August 10,1889 and he died later on that night.
- Laura became a housewife and started writing stories and poems about her
life.
- She wrote about her life to remember special events she might forget.
