- Roberto Clemente was born on August 18, 1934. He was born in Carolina,
Puerto Rico. When he was young, he would squeeze a rubber ball to gain
energy. He would rather play baseball than eat. He and his friends would
make baseballs out of a golf ball covered with string. They kept playing
with them until they fell apart. Then they would make new ones.
