Message from the Principal

I want to take this opportunity to inform you that it is an exciting time for Southmayd Elementary.  We are a TEA Recognized Campus.  Congratulations to all our students, faculty, staff and parents.  It takes all of us to make Southmayd a success.

As we begin the 2009-2010 school year I want to make certain that we continue to work together to ensure that we provide an environment that promotes safety, respect and responsibility.  We believe that all students can and will learn given a positive learning environment. It is my belief that an educator’s mission is to make school enjoyable and exciting, because if students look forward to attending school, they will want to learn and education is the true key to success.

Please be mindful that I have one simple rule as principal: make every decision with the students’ best interest in mind.  We are dedicated to meeting the needs of all learners and sustaining this recognition of excellence.  We are fortunate to have great teachers and staff members who share my enthusiasm for caring for every child, everyday.  Southmayd students will be successful!

I ask for your continued support and cooperation as we move together to improve each and every day for our students’ continued academic achievement.

To make certain the success of your child, it is important that you are involved in your child’s education.  We need for you to assist us by guaranteeing that your child attends school and is on time on a daily basis.  You are also invited to be an active participant in the many activities planned for the 2009-2010 school year.  We are looking forward to establishing home-school relationships that support successful student learning for all of our students.

Sincerely,

Siomara Saenz-Phillips
Principal
