Mission

The Mission of Lulu M. Stevens Elementary School is to ensure that all students learn those academic, social, emotional and physical skills that will enable them to succeed in a changing technological and multicultural society.

Dismissal Procedure

ANY PARENT, GUEST, OR WORKER WHO ENTERS THE BUILDING MUST CHECK IN AT THE FRONT DESK AND RECEIVE A VISITOR’S BADGE.

ARRIVAL: The front gate will be open in the morning at 7a.m.  There will be no parking in front the school in the morning or afternoon so that students may enter and leave the campus safely.  Students arriving in the morning will wait in the cafeteria until the first bell rings at 7:40 a.m.  At that time, students are released to go to their classes.

DISMISSAL: Stevens’s dismissal is at 2:45 Monday- Friday. These procedures are in place for the safety of all children.  If you need to pick your child up early, please let the office know so that we can have your child ready.  

Bus riders and Daycare Facilities students: – Pre-K, K, and 1st grade students are picked up at 2:30 PM by school personnel from their classrooms and taken to meet the bus at the far gate in front of the school.  2nd – 5th grade students are released from their classes at 2:35 and go directly to the bus gate. 

Metro Bus Riders: – Pre-K, K, and 1st grade students are picked up at 2:30 PM by school personnel from their classrooms and taken to meet the buses at the back gate of the school.  2nd – 5th grade students are released from their classes at 2:35 and go directly to the back gate. 

Car-riders: Car-riders in 3rd – 5th grades will be picked up at the gate nearest Rosslyn in front of the school.  Pre-K – 2nd grades will be picked up at the center gate.  Parents must pull over to the right hand curb to that children may enter the car safely. 

Parent Pick-up: – These are students who are picked up by parents who are on foot – have either walked to Stevens, or have parked a car and walked up.  These students will meet their parents at the center gate.   

If the way that your child goes home changes or they are being picked up by a different person, please send a note with your child to inform the teacher of the change.  You may also call 713-613-2546.
