Every
time you work at your computer at school you should check to see if
the Trend virus scan software is up to date.
Look at the bottom right corner of your
screen.
On the taskbar you should see a small blue octagon with a white line
wandering through it.
If you don't see a blue octagon, contact
your CNS immediately!
Make sure that the white line goes all the
way through the octagon with no breaks.
If the white line does NOT go all the way
through the octagon, you may have a connectivity problem or your virus
scan software may not be working properly.
If you are NOT at school, the octagon
will never have a connected white line. You don't have to worry about
the octagon when you are not at school.
If you ARE at school, first make sure
that your Ethernet cord is connected to your computer and to the
wall. Then open Internet Explorer and navigate to your favorite
website. If your site opens correctly, you are connected to the
network, but your virus scan is not connecting to the server.
Contact your CNS immediately!
If your favorite website does not open
correctly, you have connectivity problems. Contact your CNS and have
him check your connections.
If the white line goes all the way
through the octagon, you are receiving your updates and your machine
is protected. All is well.
