REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

NOTE: Immunization records MUST BE COMPLETE before registration information can be turned in to the registrar. This includes the TB test with the results entered by the doctor. (All new students to HISD – a skin test is required within 12 months prior to enrollment.)

Pre Kindergarten and Kindergarten registration is during the month of May. Call the school for dates.
Immunization records must be complete before submitting the following information:

Birth Certificate - a copy will be made of the original

Completed Immunization Record - a copy will be made of the original

Social Security Card - a copy will be made of the original

Proof Of Residence - electricity bill or telephone bill

Report Card - last one showing status

The following forms will be in the registration packet and will need to be filled out completely:

Enrollment Cards - be sure to complete both sides of both cards (one is for office and one is for the classroom teacher)

Home Language Survey Sheet

School Hours

School Starts Promptly at 7:45a.m.
Students counted TARDY at 7:50a.m. if they are not in their classrooms for the Morning Announcements
School ends at 2:45p.m.

Security Policies

Safety of our students is our number one priority. Valley West continues to take a proactive approach in this regard. Therefore, we ask all Guest, Parents, and Volunteers to SIGN IN at the Front Desk and receive a BUILDING PASS before entering any classroom.

Tutorials

After school tutorials have begun. Please check with your child's respective teachers to see if he/she needs the additional help. Some teachers have posted tutorial schedules on their web pages .

As a courtesy to the hard working teachers and staff, we ask that your child be picked up promptly when the tutorial session ends.

Uniforms

Navy or Khaki pants, skirt, shirt, jumper or knee length walking shorts and white Royal Blue and Kelly Green polo shirts may be worn. Spirit-Day white T-shirts may be worn on Friday. Shirts can be ordered from PTA. All students must wear their shirts tucked in and pants are worn with a belt.

Volunteers

If you wish to volunteer at Valley West, please come to front office. One of our staff members will provide you with the necessary paperwork. A security clearance must be on record at Valley West if you wish to become a volunteer. Being a chaperone on a field trip is considered as volunteering.
