Joy Anciano

Welcome to Third Grade! My name is Ms. Anciano and I am looking forward to
working with the students, parents, faculty, and staff of Valley West to
help create a community of life-long learners! I have been teaching for 11
years, and 6 of those years have been in Third Grade. It is my favorite
grade because it is a time of tremendous growth and transition. This year I
will partner with Ms. Rudolf and teach Reading, Language Arts, and Social
Studies.

My
current teaching position is third grade. I have taught 3rd, 4th, and
5th grades. I am responsible for nurturing young, bright and eager
minds. This has always been my teaching philosophy...."Give the
students what he/ she needs and watch them grow!" I grew up in a
household of educators, who instilled in me, knowledge is power...pass it
on!

I
am a member of the third grade team at Valley West Elementary. I’ve taught 3rd
and 4th grade in HISD. I’m from Ville Platte, Louisiana.
Missouri City, Texas has been my home for the last 6 ½ years. I’m a
graduate of Grambling State University. I come from a family of educators.
My inspiration comes from my late mother who was a third grade and
kindergarten teacher.
I’ve been around children all of my life and I love working with children
and nurturing them. I have high expectations from each student. Education
is a must in today’s society. Students need to know that becoming
professional athletes and entertainers is not the only way to be successful.
I am also a role model to the future young men of this community. We must
work together to have a great year. Please explain to your children that
they are representing you everyday and they should behave accordingly.
Students should come to school expecting to learn something new everyday.
I look forward to working with you and your child this year.
