Joy Anciano

Welcome to Third Grade! My name is Ms. Anciano and I am looking forward to working with the students, parents, faculty, and staff of Valley West to help create a community of life-long learners! I have been teaching for 11 years, and 6 of those years have been in Third Grade. It is my favorite grade because it is a time of tremendous growth and transition. This year I will partner with Ms. Rudolf and teach Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies.

My current teaching position is third grade. I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. I am responsible for nurturing young, bright and eager minds. This has always been my teaching philosophy...."Give the students what he/ she needs and watch them grow!" I grew up in a household of educators, who instilled in me, knowledge is power...pass it on!

I am a member of the third grade team at Valley West Elementary. I’ve taught 3^rd and 4^th grade in HISD. I’m from Ville Platte, Louisiana. Missouri City, Texas has been my home for the last 6 ½ years. I’m a graduate of Grambling State University. I come from a family of educators. My inspiration comes from my late mother who was a third grade and kindergarten teacher.

I’ve been around children all of my life and I love working with children and nurturing them. I have high expectations from each student. Education is a must in today’s society. Students need to know that becoming professional athletes and entertainers is not the only way to be successful. I am also a role model to the future young men of this community. We must work together to have a great year. Please explain to your children that they are representing you everyday and they should behave accordingly. Students should come to school expecting to learn something new everyday. I look forward to working with you and your child this year.
