Former Student Visits Wainwright

Donald Camp attended first grade at Wainwright Elementary in 1962 when the school first opened. In the early years students stayed at Wainwright through sixth grade.	This was Mr. Camp's bike license when he attended Wainwright.

A little history...

Wainwright Elementary School opened on January 22, 1962. The principal was Mrs. Ruth Whitworth. She retired in May of 1972 and Mr. Bertram Roth began his tenure as principal in September of 1972. Mr. Jerome Vinklarek, began his tenure in September of 1980 after Mr. Roth retired. Alan Summers became principal in the fall of 2002 when Mr. V retired. Dr. John Barrera, Wainwright's present principal, became principal in August 2007 when Mr. Summers became principal of Scarborough High School.

September of 1975 saw the beginning of the Magnet School Program.
